Trip to Africa - Vulture Feeding

October 22, 2019
The last thing we got to see on our African Trip was a vulture feeding at the Safari Lodge in Victoria Falls.

Vultures gathering for the feeding time.  They do this to help out an endangered species because they can't get enough food out in the wild because of poachers who poison vultures so they don't give away the poachers locations when they are killing and butchering elephants or rhinos.

Marabou Storks also came for the feeding.  They turned out to be a very aggressive bird also and would stand their ground against the vultures.

A stork and vulture waiting for the feeding to start.  There were two types of vultures: The Hooded Vulture and the White Backed Vulture.

The park ranger dumped out bags of left over food and game, and kept shooing them back until he had all the food out.

Then he stepped back and the feeding frenzy begin.

The vultures and storks swept in from all directions.  It was quite a fight.

Actually this wasn't our last animal sighting.  We came back to the feeding grounds at dusk and and waited for the hyenas to come out and scavenge the left over bones that the vultures didn't eat.

I didn't take this pictures because it was night and we couldn't get anything on the camera.  We did see them though.

That was the end of our trip to Africa.  We had a great time.  One of our best vacations ever.  Africa is amazing.
