After breakfast we drove by bus to the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Preserve and got to go on our first land safari.
We were in jeeps for the safari that held 10 each and a guide; and drove on dirt road out into the Game Preserve hunting for animals.
We were excited for our first sighting, which was a family of wart hogs. The landscape was hilly with lots of scrub brush. We were lucky it was early in the season before everything was green and leafy and it would be harder to see.
We also started seeing lots of wild zebra scattered about.
They are beautiful animals.

We saw lots of impalas, which are a major source of food for the predators.
Vulture watching for something to eat.
Giraffes were all about.
And we saw lots of rhinoceros grazing about among the grassy areas.
We also saw huge African Cape Buffalo.

For lunch we stopped at a picnic area and had an outdoor lunch. We were a little disappointed we hadn't seen any big cats and only one bull elephant way off in the distance. Sometimes the predators are had to find. There were lots of monkeys running around the picnic area begging for or trying to steal food from the tourists.
The monkeys were not bashful and would go right up on the tables to snatch food.

After lunch we were back on safari and got lucky. A herd of elephants heading for a watering hole and going right across the road.
They followed single file after the bull elephant in charge. There were lots of baby elephants in the herd, which numbered about 40.
We saw another large group going up a road, also heading for a watering hole.
Another big wart hog. It was a fun day hunting for animals.
