Easter

On Easter we celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which means he conquered death and actually rose from his tomb and lived again. Thanks to Christ and what he did for us, we too will be resurrected to live again after death, and through the atonement can have eternal life through faith in Christ.
We went to church on Easter in Puyallup and are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

One of the best things about Easter was having lots of family come to visit and share the holiday with us.

And of course we did an Easter Egg hunt after an Easter Dinner. The following are some pictures of the kids having fun looking for easter eggs.

Eagle Scout

Caleb received his Eagle Scout award in a Boy Scout Court of Honor.

Caleb taking the Pledge of an Eagle Scout.

In the background you can see the Eagle's Nest, composed of other Eagle Scouts welcoming him as a new Eagle Scout - Malachi and Bob among the group. Three of Caleb's other brothers are also Eagle Scouts but are away and couldn't come - Isaac, Nathanael, and Joshua.

Proud Mom's in the audience.

Brother Dazey giving a talk. He was one of Caleb's scout leaders.

Caleb and Anthony Alfaro. Anthony is one of Caleb's good friends and he was the other boy also getting his Eagle Scout at the Court of Honor.

Caleb with Mom and Dad. We each got pins too.

There was a cake and refreshments afterwards. Jacquelyn made the cake herself.

Tucker getting a mouthful from Caleb.

Amery and her family came up from Spokane to be there.

Talitha and John came too.

Congratulations Caleb, welcome to the ranks of Eagle Scout.

Jordan and Caleb

We went the Farmer's Market by the Puyallup Library with Talitha last weekend and we ran into Jordan MacDonald. He has a new business selling Philly Cheese Steaks sandwiches. We got two and split them between the four of us and boy were they good. I think he's going to do well.

Caleb made the Dean's list at Pierce College. Way to go Caleb. He's doing well at college classes even though he's only a Junior in High School.
On an unfortunate note, I hurt my big toe the other day and it swelled way up and turned dark blue and hurts and I haven't been able to wear a shoe on that foot ever since. I was turning out the lights for the evening and stepped on the end of a cord that someone left out in the hall, which they shouldn't have, nope, and they do leave stuff laying out all the time, and sooner or later someone was bound to get hurt. I shifted my weight off that foot and fell down and jammed the big toe on the other food really bad. Oh well, it only hurts when I walk.

Monster Truck Rally

Jacquelyn and I went to the Spring Fair in Puyallup. We actually bought tickets to the Monster Truck Rally and free admission to the fair came with it.

Just the two of us went, Caleb didn't want to come along. We spent several hours touring around looking at things. Jacquelyn liked looking at the Pavilion displays mostly. I like looking at the farm animals.

We saw a lumberjack contest which was fun to watch. This is a log rolling contest. The one in the red shirt won.

Jacquelyn liked the looks of these green house starter boxes and is planning to have Relief Society make some.

Finally it was time for the Monster Truck Rally. This truck was named Bounty Hunter and it ended up winning the truck race contest.

I liked the Outlaw best and it came in second.

They would race around a track two at a time and have to smash or jump over ordinary cars along the way.

This truck was named Double Trouble and it almost tipped over backwards.

It actually got kind of repetitious. After all, you can only watch so many cars getting smashed and crushed before you start to lose interest. Here's a video so you can watch part of a race.

Daffodil Parade

We went to the Daffodil Parade and for once it wasn't raining. We enjoyed getting out and had a good time. How many people remember playing in the band while going to Ferrucci Junior High with Mr. Rink. He's still there.

There were lots of floats and bands and other fun stuff to see.

Malachi and Layne was there too and their two children. I think the little kids enjoyed the parade most of all. We liked being able to do things with them.

The big highlight of the whole parade was the Emerald Ridge marching band. They were the best.

With Caleb playing how could they not be good.

We liked watching Caleb play, although he probably didn't like the attention from family spectators calling out to him as he marched by.

Time for lunch after the parade. Caleb made himself a monster hamburger.

Of course not all is going as smoothly as one might think when we only show fun stuff on the Blog. As you can see here, our gutter fell off the house one day because of winds and I had to spend a good part of the morning putting it back up, several days later, after much embarrassment to Jacquelyn that our house looked sloppy. And now the gutter looks all dented up in places.

General Conference

Last weekend was General Conference. Instead of going to church at the local chapels we have broadcasts from Salt Lake City over the Internet and on the BYU channel, so we can hear talks at home from the General Authorities, including the prophet and some of the apostles. This is a picture of the conference center in Salt Lake City where a lot of people go to hear conference talks.
We watched them on TV. The Saturday sessions we watched at home in Puyallup. Except for the evening priesthood session where Caleb and I did have to go up to the church building. On Sunday we drove up to Doranda's house and watched two sessions there. Tucker and Penelope kept us entertained so no one would fall asleep, as least they tried anyway. Tucker had some cut-outs of some of the speakers he could put in a cut-out of the pulpit.

I really liked one of President Uchdorf's talks about living up to our potential. There were also some good talks about husband and wife relationships and raising kids. One speaker talked about persecutions that will be coming and that we all need to be ready to face those.

At Doranda's we did waffles and ice cream. This was mine with ice cream, strawberries, blueberry sause and chocolate syrup. It was so good. I had two.

We got the idea from Mary-Anne and Nathanael. Others in the family are doing it now too I think. That's a good tradition when it spreads. And it is a delicious tradition.

Caleb had the biggest one.

I also got to do a walk with Tucker and Penelope. No one else would come because it was so cold out. We went down the street and up a long big hill. Then Tucker wanted to run down all the way back. So we did it.

This is a cake Jacquelyn made for the Relief Society birthday party, but I never got to post it earlier.
